Anam Cara Housing with Care opened in 2007 as the second scheme of its type in Dublin, offering further choice in care to those over the age of 65 in need of a more supported living environment.

Anam Cara provides 28 units of accommodation specifically for those living with dementia and 28
units for older people over the age of 65 with an assessed need for 24- hour care and support.

Whilst Anam Cara is a designated centre for older people, it not classed as a nursing home and this service is based on a social model of care. The day-to-day management of the centre/scheme is led by the Scheme Manager (Person in Charge” (PIC)). A team of Senior Care Workers and Care staff provide 24 hours/7 day per week care and support to our residents.

In collaboration with residents and their families, individual, person-centred care plans are developed which includes medication management, personal care needs, diet/nutrition needs, social, spiritual and emotional care and specific tailored plans for residents living with dementia-all of which are enshrined in the core values of Fold Housing.
